Director of Finance

Join the Sunrise Project Inc. as Director of Finance. This senior leadership role reports to the COO and is located remotely (US/UK/EU).

Pay Range: $150,000 – $180,000 USD per year.

The Role

As Director of Finance, you will lead financial operations, build a high‑performing finance team, and embed sustainability across our global network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee overall financial management: analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, audit, and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with the COO and Board’s FRAC committee on cash flow and investment decisions, ensuring alignment with the Foreign Exchange, Investment, and Reserves policy.
  • Submit financial reports and trend guidance to the Board and FRAC committee.
  • Partner with Program Directors and the Philanthropic Partnerships Director to secure accurate forecast inputs and drive financial literacy across the organization.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the financial strategy to reduce environmental footprint and align operations with our mission.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Substantial senior finance management experience in a complex, multi‑disciplinary organization (philanthropy or grant‑making preferred).
  • CPA certification or equivalent professional accounting membership.
  • Deep understanding of compliance for 501(c)(3) charities and, optionally, EU or UK states.
  • Proven ability to deliver a sound financial strategy and build trust, strong relationships, and practices that embed environmental sustainability, justice, and equity.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills based on analytical insights.
  • Flexibility to manage complex projects and competing priorities.
