Team Overview

The Edward Jones Generations® team provides an end-to-end, HNW client experience by partnering with our branch teams to deliver ongoing client services, including holistic financial planning, tax and estate planning through trusted third parties, plan implementation using an expanding set of Edward Jones products, and ongoing reporting and support. Associate Portfolio Strategists leverage the extensive resources of our home office and external third‑party partnerships to serve HNW clients with complex needs.

The Portfolio Strategy team partners with financial advisors and clients to deliver high‑quality, actionable Advice, Planning, Products, and Services (APPS) required to meet our client’s wealth management needs. Through detailed analysis, the team develops and guides the implementation of customized investment solutions that connect goals outlined in a client’s financial plan to portfolio strategy.

What You Will Do

The Associate Portfolio Strategist is the investment specialist responsible for assisting with bringing the client’s financial plan to life through investments and ensuring alignment with the client’s goals and expectations. They will partner with the Senior Portfolio Strategist to design and implement investment strategies.

  • Partner with and support branch teams as a Home Office investment specialist to deliver high‑quality APPS required to meet our client’s wealth management needs.
  • In coordination with Senior Portfolio Strategists and Senior Planners, provide the appropriate level of support across the client journey, including aiding creation of tailored investment advice and strategies, portfolio analysis and construction, and implementation.
  • Support senior members of the Portfolio Strategy Team, Financial Advisors, and clients with basic to intermediate investment portfolio scenarios to enable delivery of more personalized, tax‑efficient, and robust portfolio construction and transition advice (e.g., asset allocation, tax minimization, optimal investments, asset location).
  • Coordinate and/or contribute to consultations and content that meet the needs of our high‑net‑worth clients based on client objectives, risk profile, account mandates, and personal preferences.
  • Work in partnership with WMFM or HNW internal stakeholder groups to explore opportunities to enhance workflow processes and strengthen partnership dynamics.
  • Assist with branch team and client interactions by identifying resources to achieve the right results.
  • Build and maintain an understanding of industry trends, competitors, and regulatory changes; assess how these themes impact our product offerings, the implementation of firm guidance, and our ability to deliver personalization sought by current and prospective clients.

What Experience You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • FINRA Series 7 & 66 licenses required within 6 months of hire.
  • Intent to obtain or progress toward a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial services or related field; 1-2 years of relevant portfolio management, portfolio analysis, and/or investment consultation preferred.
  • Technical aptitude, analytical, and critical skills.
  • Subject matter expertise on economic, investment, and portfolio management strategies and concepts.
  • Skills in systems thinking, planning and organizing, relationship building, collaboration, critical thinking, project management.
  • Solid written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to provide concise, relevant commentary.
What Could Set You Apart
  • Series 7, 66, 24 licenses.
  • CFA or progress toward CFA.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, databases, and wealth management software tools (e.g., Aladdin Wealth, Morningstar, Fact Set).
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or PowerBI.
Location and Work Requirements

Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
