Position Summary
UTHealth Houston is looking for a financial analyst who provides professional-level skills in performing simple to moderately complex financial analysis for the institution. The analyst will complete financial analyses and assist in developing various institution-wide and operating‑unit‑specific financial reports, process purchase orders, submit various journal entries, and generate invoices. The role includes handling quarterly professional liability insurance for clinicians, generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, creating analytical ad‑hoc reports, analyzing revenues and expenditures, and participating in budget creation and auditing.
The analyst will work primarily out of the University Center Tower on the eighth floor; during a training period onsite instructions will be provided. After training, remote work may be available based on job requirements and performance. Applicants must be able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, be detail‑oriented, and possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Develop, prepare, analyze, and/or review reports summarizing financial activity for the institution.
- Prepare and analyze historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable information for decision‑making.
- May analyze, prepare, and/or review sponsored projects’ financial activities.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of the annual financial report, the annual operating budget, quarterly operating projections, and the monthly financial report to senior management and UT System.
- Prepare and analyze reconciliations of activity with UT System.
- Analyze and prepare documentation and support as requested by internal and external auditors.
- May assist in and/or prepare the indirect cost proposal for the institution.
- May analyze and prepare needed adjustments to both actual and budget ledgers for the institution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required
Minimum Experience3 years of related experience in a financial or accounting area required
Physical RequirementsExerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
