Your career opportunity

Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub‐function of Group Risk and Compliance. Its purpose is to provide HSBC with a coherent Risk Management Framework, Risk Taxonomy and the tools to understand and operate within its Global Risk Appetite, effectively managing its overall risk position. ERM strengthens the risk culture across the organisation by driving consistent risk management practices across businesses and functions at global, regional and market levels, ensuring robust oversight and stewardship of end‑to‑end processes, risks and controls to meet risk, business and regulatory priorities, and enable the bank to grow safely and strategically.

What

you’ll do
  • Own and lead the end‑to‑end risk governance cycles for the Risk Management Meeting, ensuring a clear, communicated and agreed delivery plan across all stakeholders, and collaborate with the CRCO and other senior executives to influence focus and agenda.
  • Deliver enterprise risk analysis and reporting, including external disclosures that provide a connected view of risk, highlight concentrations, systemic exposures and emerging vulnerabilities, and report consistently on risk profile, risk appetite position and governance narrative.
  • Own the broader team delivery plan, coordinate with team members to align with ambition and key priorities, and promptly escalates material issues with recommended solutions.
  • Support the Head of ERM with routine oversight of the function and undertake special projects as required.
  • Work with stakeholders across all three lines of defence and varying seniority to drive improved outcomes for customers and the organisation.
  • Produce and coordinate high‑quality executive and non‑executive ready materials – packs, dashboards, committee papers, briefings, and talking points – that provide effective enterprise risk insights and clear messaging.
  • Collaborate with experts across risk domains to align on enterprise implications, clarify the risk problem and required decisions, and deliver a single coherent view while ensuring domain teams remain accountable for execution.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
  • Excellent planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and adopt a ‘bigger picture’ perspective, connecting BAU deliverables to organisational ambition and key priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, including the Risk Management Framework, its application at HSBC and its value to strategic priorities.
  • Experience producing risk insights and internal/external reporting, preferably for senior audiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage, challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels, and develop compelling, logically structured presentations and papers that are thoughtful, clear and concise.
  • Knowledge of a financial institution’s business model, products and key risk drivers.
  • Ability to lead and promote a strong risk‑control culture and continually improve risk awareness.
  • Proven ability to build networks with key stakeholders and support a multi‑locational team of professionals.
  • Providing expert advice and robust challenge, delivering risk management policies and managing risks and controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
