OverviewThe Payroll Analyst is a key member of the Payroll team at Boston University. Reporting to the Associate Director of Payroll Tax and Reporting, they will assist with the remittances (including but not limited to federal, state, and local withholding taxes and union dues deductions), reconciliation, and reporting of all payroll with holdings. This role will work with the Associate Director to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations while supporting payroll operations and responding to tax-related inquiries.
KeyDuties
- Collaborate with Information Technology to implement and test system updates as they relate to taxation and serve as an active member of the yearend W2 process.
- Assist with the creation and generation of reports as they relate to union dues deductions, wages, and other ad hoc topics.
- Serve as a backup to the Sr Payroll Tax Administrator in the evaluation of tax status of foreign national employees.
- Salary Grade 48 – Minimum $61,200, Midpoint $82,700, Maximum $104,100
- New hires can expect an initial annual salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($65,000 - $75,000).

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Ability to work optimally and collaboratively in a small, collegial team environment.
- 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a university or payroll management capacity.
- Intermediate skills utilizing Excel, including complex formulas to acquire, organize, and analyze data.
- Experience in analyzing data to determine relevant conclusions and suggest appropriate actions to management.
- Proven track record of multi‑tasking and prioritizing routine tasks and ad‑hoc requests.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, demonstrating accuracy and quality of work output.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, intellectually curious.
- Knowledge of SAP/BUworks and Microsoft Office
