The salary for this position is: $7,127.00 - $9,374.00 monthly.
Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking a professional, motivated, and dependable candidate for the position of Fiscal Manager to join our leadership team. A successful candidate will be responsible for the financial health, budgeting, and accounting operations of the office, directing daily accounting functions and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local financial regulations.
Essential Functions- Managing the office’s ongoing budget and preparation of the annual budget, including mid-year revisions and transfers.
- Supervising the accounting and budgetary functions of the office and overseeing office payroll functions.
- Ensuring financial systems meet GAAP and all local and state accounting and budget requirements.
- Designing, developing, and preparing complex financial management reports for decision-making and policy setting, and completing other internal and external reporting requirements.
- Administering grant and contract management requirements to assure fiscal compliance; maintaining grant receivables; representing the office in dealings with State and Federal grant sources.
- Recommending and implementing approved policies and procedures to assure effective functioning of accounting activities and compliance with standards and requirements.
- Conducting periodic internal audits of accounting programs, expenditures, and activities to assure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and with any applicable grant or contract requirements.
- Work Environment – generally performed indoors; frequent keyboarding; occasional standing or sitting for long periods; travel between court rooms and locations; light manual handling up to 20 lbs; occasional attendance at crime scenes.
- Schedule – Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; workload may require work outside assigned hours; essential personnel may be required to report during emergencies.
- Travel Requirements – occasional travel to attend meetings or trainings.
- Customer Interactions – daily interactions with county staff and the public.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration; coursework must have included college-level commercial and/or governmental accounting courses. Additional related experience may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in accounting with at least two years in governmental accounting; two years of supervisory experience required.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer and appropriate software to perform essential functions of the position.
- Deep understanding of fund accounting, GAAP, and regulations unique to public agencies, including GASB standards.
- Proficiency in creating, monitoring, and projecting large‑scale budgets and forecasting revenues and expenditures.
- Ability to administer local, state, and federal grant requirements, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
- Advanced capability with financial management tools, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and complex spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to partner interdepartmentally to develop, allocate, and monitor budgets.
