About the Opportunity
The FIU Analyst will directly support the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to ensure that the business operates in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF). The role involves conducting transaction monitoring reviews to detect potential money laundering, terrorist financing, or illicit activities and escalating such activity for additional review. The Analyst will work closely with the FIU Director, Sr FIU Director, Regional Lead, Team Lead, and applicable Head of Compliance in international jurisdictions to address all AML matters in a timely and compliant manner.
WhatYou Will Do
- Utilize transaction monitoring and blockchain analytics solutions to independently analyze activity or patterns of activity that do not align with the customer’s profile or expected behaviour.
- Review blockchain wallet screening and KYT alerts or investigations to determine if customer activity presents risk indicators.
- Conduct open‑source searches as applicable to relevant customers, counter parties, or transactional activity.
- Analyze transactional activity and information from internal systems, blockchain screening tools, and open sources to determine alert dispositions with sound judgment and well‑supported conclusions.
- Prepare clear and concise alert or case dispositions of potential suspicious activity for a Suspicious Matter Report (SMR) consideration.
- Draft Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and discuss findings with the Team Lead, Sr FIU Manager, Head of FIU, and/or appropriate Head of Compliance to determine the proper course of action.
- Ensure that transaction monitoring alerts, case investigations, and SMRs are completed and submitted within established deadlines and SLAs.
- At least 2 years of experience in a financial crime or compliance analytical/investigative role, preferably with TM/FIU, ACAMS, ACFCS or ICA accreditation.
- Experience with blockchain analytics solutions such as Chainalysis, TRM, Elliptic, Cipher Trace, or Scorechain.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle shifting priorities and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working independently and upskilling on new tools and technology.
- Team player with good communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Fluent in English.
- Prior experience working in a fast‑paced fintech or cryptocurrency company.
- Blockchain analytics solution certifications (Chainalysis, TRM, Elliptic, Cipher Trace, Scorechain).
- Proactive, collaborative approach and solution orientation.
- Practical approach to alert processing and analysis.
- Ability to feed rule or investigation output back into the AML programme.
- Interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain and financial crime detection.
You will safeguard Moon Pay against financial crime by reviewing and resolving alerts on a day‑to‑day basis and conducting investigations. You will engage with the FIU, risk and compliance teams, and heads of compliance to address suspicious activity, prepare reports, and improve AML processes.
