Job Overview
The Financial Coach will coordinate and provide financial counseling and coaching services for clients in programs across the local office.
Responsibilities- Provide one‑on‑one financial coaching and counseling to a caseload of clients, creating personal budgets, establishing bank accounts, arranging loans, and building credit, including advanced asset‑building topics.
- Assess client needs and develop individualized financial action plans.
- Conduct initial and follow‑up counseling sessions and achieve client outcomes.
- Make appropriate referrals and integrate wrap‑around supports (benefits, tax preparation) into counseling.
- Support the creation of workshops in budgeting, banking, and credit.
- Ensure all training requirements are met for participants in budgeting, cash management, savings, and credit building, and verify completion.
- Increase participant knowledge of financial services and credit offerings.
- Coordinate with the Economic Empowerment Manager on external outreach to banks and community members to assist clients.
- Accurately track participant attendance, data, follow‑up services, and outcomes in ETO.
- Successfully complete and pass CNM Certified Financial Coach and participate in initial and ongoing professional development trainings.
- Follow all programmatic, contractual, donor requirements and IRC standards of practice.
- Participate and attend community of practice (COP) calls for financial coaches.
- Participate in financial capability‑wide events and initiatives.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, banks, VITA tax sites, and community volunteers.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Undergraduate degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with financial education, counseling, and coaching.
- High familiarity with the U.S. credit and banking system, personal budgeting, banking, and credit counseling.
- Strong communication skills with people of varied backgrounds.
- Comfort and effectiveness in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer literacy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation ability.
- Ability to work independently, be a self‑starter, and manage multiple tasks.
- Fluency in English required.
- Proficiency in a refugee language an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle for regular travel within the service delivery area.
Combination of standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
Compensation(Pay Range: $26.00 – $26.80 per hour)
Union EligibleThis position is represented by the OPEIU union and is subject to the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement.
