Job Summary
We are looking for a Sr. Tax Associate I to join our Tax Team. The Tax group works closely with wealth advisors to provide tax compliance services to high-net-worth clients. This position offers a great work/life balance in a supportive environment with no audit or assurance work, and no business development requirements.
Responsibilities- Prepare income tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and businesses
- Create quarterly estimates and projections
- Communicate clearly and concisely with clients regarding return delivery, estimates, projections, and analysis
- Conduct tax research and stay current on tax law changes, communicating impacts to clients
- Respond to tax questions and queries in a timely and accurate manner for both tax and wealth management clients
- Coordinate with tax support staff to ensure workflow and data integrity
- Assist with tax notice responses and initial correspondence preparation
- Stay up-to-date on tax law changes and communicate effects to clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 1‑3 years of public accounting experience, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Moderate knowledge of the tax code and general accounting principles
- CPA and/or EA credential preferred or in-progress
- Experience with CCH software (Axcess, Workflow, Practice, Safe Send) a plus
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and tax‑oriented
- Ability to manage a large volume of activities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills, able to explain concepts to clients and advisors clearly and concisely
- Excellent time‑management skills
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Saturdays may be required during tax season. Early or late hours may be necessary to meet client or internal deadlines.
Working ConditionsThis position may be performed from a professional office, a dedicated home office, or a hybrid arrangement. The workplace will be free of interruptions, with the necessary technology provided. The job requires routine sitting and standing; no heavy lifting over 10 lbs.
CompensationBase Pay Range: $80,750 – $95,000 USD.
Eligible for incentive compensation through Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation program.
