Position Summary
The Chord Energy Finance Department is seeking a senior financial analyst to support the company’s corporate planning efforts. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with a finance or investment banking background to obtain oil and gas experience in the context of corporate finance with a premier E&P operator. The position will be focused on maintaining the company’s corporate model, working with management to set the strategic direction of the company, and reporting to the Director of Corporate Planning.
This position is located in downtown Houston, TX, and offers a hybrid work schedule with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary are commensurate with experience.
- Maintain and improve corporate budgeting, planning, and modeling processes.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to forecast cash flows, capital, and balance sheet metrics.
- Support operations groups by providing analysis on strategic initiatives.
- Perform adhoc financial analysis to enable optimal capital allocation and return‑of‑capital decisions.
- Build presentations and communicate financial information to senior‑level executives.
- Evaluate various transaction financing scenarios and assist with financing execution when needed.
- Allocate a portion of time to additional Finance Department needs such as investor relations and corporate finance.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3 years of experience in finance or an oil and gas operating company (upstream experience preferred) or 1 year of investment banking experience.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all organizational levels and disciplines.
- Strong project‑management skills with the ability to manage time‑sensitive projects and a can‑do attitude.
- Expert user of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with technical tools such as Spotfire, Enersight, or Enverus is a plus.
- Ability to build and maintain complex financial models and manage large amounts of data.
- Ownership of new tasks and problems, solved with precision and thoughtfulness.
- Team player with intellectual curiosity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, an innovative bent, and persistent attention to detail.
Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax. Maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
