About The Role
The underwriting team, part of the Commercial Mortgage Group, focuses on all property types and originates loans that are performing, transitional, bridge and construction.
Responsibilities- Familiarity with multiple transaction types including whole loans, syndicated loans, and CMBS, with deal sizes ranging from $30 million to $500 million.
- Review and summarize third‑party reports, including appraisals, engineering reports, environmental assessments, zoning letters, credit reports, background checks, credit references, and legal documents.
- Assist in the preparation of credit memos.
- Review leave and property‑level documents.
- Communicate with brokers, agents, and principals to complete strategic research projects and analyses that validate underwriting assumptions.
- Conduct market research on economic and lending market trends and real‑estate market research on comparable properties to determine competitive amenities, rents, and sales prices using CoStar, Reis, and Bloomberg.
- Perform advanced valuation and cash‑flow analysis using Argus.
- Collaborate closely with the underwriting team, internal loan originators, closers, legal, and portfolio management team.
- Understand internal systems and create quarterly accounting reports of the CMBS holdings.
- BA/BS required; advanced degree a plus.
- Robust analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and quantitative skills.
- Interest in real estate and the ability to perform market research.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 at the commencement of employment. Compensation is dependent on factors such as geographic location, skills, experience, and other qualifications. The position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the applicable incentive plan.
Work LocationThis position is based in Corebridge Financials' El Segundo, CA office and is subject to a hybrid working policy, allowing both office and remote work.
