Accountant, Bookkeeper​/ Accounting Clerk

Accountant (Bookkeeper, Modesto Operations) We're hiring a detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper who understands (or can quickly learn) the financial mechanics of our mortgage brokerage efforts - commission-based revenue, lender payouts, and file-level cost tracking to keep our books clean, current, and audit-ready as we scale our Modesto, CA operations. This position is remote in Mexico.

• Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly reconciliations across operating and trust/escrow-adjacent accounts as applicable
• Track and reconcile loan commission income against closed loan files (per-file revenue tracking)
• Manage accounts payable: loan officer commission splits, vendor invoices (appraisal, credit, title, marketing), and recurring operating costs
• Reconcile wholesale lender payouts and fee disbursements against the loan pipeline
• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for leadership
• Maintain compliant, audit-ready recordkeeping in line with mortgage industry recordkeeping norms
• Support annual licensing/compliance-related financial reporting requirements as needed
• Coordinate with outside CPA for quarterly estimates and annual tax filing
• Flag commission discrepancies, unpaid lender fees, or cash flow concerns proactively

• 3+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience; mortgage, real estate, financial services, or commission-based industry experience
• Strong working knowledge of Quick Books Online (or willingness to be tested on it)
• Comfortable reconciling revenue against a pipeline/CRM system rather than simple flat invoicing
• Proven written & spoken English for communication with leadership and clients (C2+ only)
• Reliable high-speed internet and a distraction‑free remote work setup
• Comfortable working US business hours (Pacific Time overlap required)
• Ability to handle financial data with discretion and confidentiality (borrower/loan‑related financials)

• Direct experience bookkeeping for a mortgage brokerage, real estate (equipment) brokerage, or lender
• Familiarity with (GHL) or a mortgage CRM/pipeline system
• Understanding of non-QM lending or wholesale lender commission structures
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Experience working inside Click Up or a similar project management tool
