What you’ll be doingThe Director, ALM Measurement & Insights is responsible for driving Treasury’s ALM duties, including risk measurement, commentary and explanation of changes in risk measurement, insights into balance sheet trends, strategic balance sheet positioning recommendations, and enabling business strategies by providing expert ALM expertise to our partners and the broader Treasury team. You’ll be strategic partners with colleagues in Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Technology to ensure that our infrastructure meets the requirements for sound ALM measurement and management.
You’ll also act as the lead across these cross-functional teams on both strategic and tactical opportunities. At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. - Infrastructure Design & Implementation – Lead the future‑state design of interest rate risk measurement infrastructure (QRM), ensuring business requirements support legal entity views, balance sheet insights, customer behavior, and alignment with core measurement systems. Partner with Treasury, Risk Management, and Technology teams to drive consistent outcomes.
- Insights & Strategy – Support the development of executive‑ and committee‑level materials with clear, decision‑oriented insights. Assess structural interest rate risk positioning across scenarios and design reporting that highlights key balance sheet trends and vulnerabilities.
- Risk Measurement – Own business requirements for key interest rate risk measures, including DV01, Earnings at Risk, and Economic Value of Equity. Provide subject matter expertise on new products, valuation approaches, and measurement assumptions, while partnering with Analytics, Finance, and Technology teams on production oversight and issue resolution.
- Decomposition & Analysis – Lead analysis and reporting that supports effective risk management and strategic decision‑making. Provide expert insight into movements in EVE, EAR, and DV01, support ad hoc investigations, and develop prototype reporting for non‑trading balance sheet risk exposures.
- Regulatory & Internal Compliance – Serve as a subject matter expert on Treasury infrastructure and support responses to Internal Audit and regulatory matters. Monitor market, regulatory, and business developments, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations for senior management.
- You can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the banking industry and products, with over 7 years of relevant experience in measuring or managing interest rate risk.
- In addition, you have strong analytical, problem solving, communication and decision making skills, along with experience with business applications (QRM, SQL applications, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- It's an asset if you have experience and knowledge of CIBC financial and management accounting systems, along with understanding and knowledge within the scope of CIBC’s parent bank, subsidiaries, and foreign branches.
