Key Responsibilities- Conduct on‑ and off‑site examinations of consumer finance, debt collection, loan servicing, and money services businesses.
- Review licensee records, transaction histories, financial statements, and related documents to assess compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Evaluate each licensee’s compliance‑management system, including policies, procedures, controls, and independent testing.
- Prepare detailed work papers and examination reports, and provide written comments.
- Meet with licensee staff and communicate findings to internal and external leadership.
- Attend state and federal regulatory training programs.
- Collaborate with other state and federal agencies and audit/consulting firms as needed.
- At least one year of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or bank examining, or a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, banking, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of consumer finance, debt collection, loan servicing, or money services businesses, and familiarity with Massachusetts General Laws, the Bank Secrecy Act, anti‑money‑laundering regulations, Truth in Lending, and other consumer protection statutes.
- Strong analytical, multi‑tasking, writing, and communication skills.
- Experience evaluating financial condition and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prior experience in consumer finance, debt collection, loan servicing, or money services businesses.
- Experience with Massachusetts General Laws, BSA/AML, Truth in Lending, information security, repossession rules, loan servicing, consumer disclosures, or debt collection regulations.
- Willingness to travel throughout Massachusetts and out of state with overnight stays; driver’s license and access to a vehicle recommended.
- Hybrid position with remote work flexibility; required on‑site presence once per pay period.
