The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) is seeking a Finance and Administration Manager to support the organization’s financial operations, administrative functions, and mission to advocate for sarcoma patients by funding research and increasing awareness of this rare disease.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Finance, the Finance and Administration Manager will help manage financial reporting, daily accounting operations, payroll coordination, compliance, benefits administration, office operations, vendor relationships, and other projects that support SFA’s organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, proactive professional with nonprofit finance experience, strong organizational and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Director of Finance in developing and implementing financial strategies, budgets, forecasts, and financial processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, revenue and expense reports, reconciliations, and audit-related materials.
- Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, deposits, expense recording, bank reconciliations, and invoice processing.
- Coordinate payroll processing through third-party vendors and support compliance with accounting standards, policies, regulations, audits, and Form 990 preparation.
- Provide timely financial data and analysis to internal departments and support finance-related needs for fundraising events.
- Administer benefits programs, oversee office operations and procedures, manage vendor and landlord relationships, and support office space, equipment, supply, and furniture needs.
- Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of finance experience in a nonprofit environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated nonprofit finance, accounting, budgeting, and management experience.
- Experience with Quick Books Online or similar accounting software, fundraising databases, and the ability to learn new systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, initiative, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects while responding flexibly to changing priorities.
- Ability to develop a strong understanding of SFA’s mission, programs, and organizational strategies.
This is a Hybrid/remote position that requires working in the Bethesda, Maryland, office at least 1 day per week, and additional office presence as needed.
