Role DescriptionThis is a hybrid Mortgage Agent role based in Ottawa, ON, GTA, Kingston, Brampton, Mississauga, Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, Sudbury, Peterborough with a mix of in-office and work-from-home flexibility. The Mortgage Agent will consult with clients to understand their home financing needs, assess their financial profiles, and recommend suitable mortgage products. Daily responsibilities include completing mortgage applications, gathering and verifying documentation, and coordinating with lenders, insurers, and other partners to move files from pre-approval to funding.
The role involves proactively building and managing a pipeline of leads, following up with referral sources, and maintaining strong client relationships before, during, and after the mortgage process. The Mortgage Agent will also stay current on lending guidelines, interest rates, and industry regulations to provide accurate, compliant advice.
- Strong knowledge of the mortgage industry and current residential mortgage market trends.
- Experience or familiarity with mortgage servicing and end-to-end file management processes.
- Practical understanding of mortgages, including pre-approvals, refinances, and renewals.
- Skills in mortgage marketing, lead generation, and building referral relationships.
- Background or training in mortgage lending, underwriting basics, and lender requirements.
- Valid mortgage agent license (or eligibility to be licensed) in Ontario.
- Excellent communication, client service, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and comfort working with digital tools and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently in a results-driven environment while collaborating with a team.
- Fluency in additional languages is an asset, as is prior experience in financial services or real estate.
