YourRole in Supporting Our Members:
As an Underwriter, Commercial Real Estate , you will play a critical role supporting the growth and management ofa portfolio of loansto valuesalignedbusinessesandsocial purpose real estate projects, including(but not limited to) term and construction financing for market rental housing, affordable housing, green buildings, and community spaces.
You’lljoin a small, diverse team of entrepreneurial, purpose-driven individuals and contribute yourexpertisein credit underwriting and portfolio management with a specialized lens on real estate finance.
This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at the Vancity Community Investment Bank head office location and your Ontario based home officeand will report directly to the Senior Manager, Commercial Real Estate. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands
How You'll Makean Impact:- Completing underwriting analysis of commercial mortgage transactions for term and construction facilities, for both conventional and CMHC insured loans
- Assessing suitability, reviewing risks, and completing due diligence requirements on transaction sin accordance withrisk appetite and CMHC guidelineswhererequired
- Preparing and issuing commitment letters, amendments, renewals, and other client-facing documents
- Completing loan renewals and annual reviews
- Completing and submitting CMHC Loan Applications
- Supporting adherence to commercial credit policy, standards, and guidelines
- Maintaining consistent,objective, and sound risk assessments in a service-oriented environment
- Providing guidance and decision-making support to origination teams to solve problems
- Collaborating with colleagues across teams to improve underwriting systems and maximize effectiveness
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, or related field
- Minimum of5years of real estate financing or related experience
- Knowledge of the commercial real estate market and interest in advancing social purpose and sustainable real estate
- Experience in commercial credit underwriting with strong business and financial analytical skills
- Business banking, CMHC financing and project finance experience an asset
- Analytical – You enjoy solving complex problems and making sound decisions

What You’ll Earn:This role offers a salary range of$85,000
to $95,000 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
