Overview

The Americas Division ("AD") was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited New York Branch ("SMTBNY") to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Within the AD are the Global Banking Unit ("GBU") and the Global Markets Unit ("GMU"). The Controllers Department ("CTR") provides financial reporting to Branch Management, the Head Office and Regulatory Authorities. CTR also handles reconciliation of all Nostro accounts and other positions as well as U.S. tax related matters.

Position Overview

The Controllers Department is seeking a Junior Accountant who will be responsible for daily Nostro and bond reconciliation, daily monitoring of G/L movement, financial reporting, head‑office reporting and regulatory reporting. The Junior Accountant will work closely with a designated reviewer who will assess the accuracy and adequacy of the reports.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in month‑end / term‑end book closing and reporting in an accurate and timely manner.

Prepare accounting adjustments for ATLAS G/L.

Prepare reports to control and monitor ATLAS G/L movement.

Prepare regulatory reports accurately and on time.

Perform daily bond / Nostro reconciliation using ATLAS downloads and external information.

Prepare monthly management information on reconciliation.

Collect and file the Bank’s financial, regulatory, and tax records in an orderly manner.

Prepare financial and non‑financial information for tax return preparer.

Document report preparation procedures.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by management.

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Excellent mathematical skills.

Detail oriented and willing to acquire working knowledge in quality control and volume processing to deliver sound financial statements.
