With a focus on teamwork and quality, Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Premium Audit Analyst in Omaha, NE. The successful candidate will receive on‑the‑job training in classification codes and premium audit rules for a single jurisdiction, enabling them to complete final premium audits on assigned workers’ compensation policies, beginning with smaller policies that contain few classification codes and states.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate understanding of audit submission and audit procedures, payroll examination, assignment of classification codes, and use of applicable Bureau/State online or call center resources gained through on‑the‑job training.
  • Review documentation submitted via the customer portal and proactively communicate with policyholders and agents to gather necessary information; ask basic questions to verify classification codes and determine final payroll.
  • Identify obvious issues and concerns and notify the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Summarize audit findings using company software, providing general explanations to justify classification codes, and create basic worksheets to verify the final audited payroll.
  • Identify discrepancies compared to pre‑audit classification codes and states, contact stakeholders regarding unusual items, and forward to management for discussion and approval.
  • Research applicable Bureau websites and call centers as needed to complete the final audit, gaining familiarity with company protocols and workflows.
  • Perform a basic review of policy details, working with Underwriting to ensure correct application of classification codes and forward any discrepancies or concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Process the final audit and revised final audit transactions on policies, provide a basic summary of audit development to justify AP/RP, and prepare to answer basic questions about the audit development.
  • Identify and forward disputes to the resolution team.
  • Respond to basic inquiries regarding the premium audit process and standard finance workflows, forwarding all other inquiries to the Supervisor.
  • Familiarize with company communication guidelines and standard operating procedures; provide gold‑standard service, timely responding to emails and phone calls, transferring inquiries as appropriate, and offering general assistance to all business partners.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned by leadership or as situations dictate.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, or Accounting from a four‑year college or university is required.
  • Experience:

    Some transferable premium audit experience or a sufficient combination of education and experience.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to work with applicable databases, systems, and vendor software programs.
  • Language Ability:
    Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations; write reports and professional business correspondence; present information to managers, clients, and the public.
  • Mathematical and Reasoning Ability:
    Solve practical problems with variable data, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, interpret graphs and schedules, and draw valid conclusions.
