Under general direction, is responsible for tax collection and tax enforcement work of considerable difficulty involving direct contact and onsite collection of delinquent taxes, in concert with other law enforcement officials, from businesses and individual taxpayers in and across assigned geographical regions of the state; and performs all office-based work necessary to resolve cases assigned. This is the regional officer class in the Revenue Collection Officer sub-series.
An employee in this class interacts directly with businesses or individuals for which office-based collection efforts have been unsuccessful and is responsible for duties of both standard and greater interpersonal complexity and risk, such as on-site visits and property seizures. An employee in this class must also work in a team setting where satisfactory results rely on close coordination with coworkers, other law enforcement officials, and vendors.
This class differs from Revenue Collection Officer Advanced in that incumbents of the latter are responsible for training new employees as well as collecting delinquent taxes and enforcing regulations with an emphasis on office-based methods that may involve lower risk. The class differs from Revenue Collection Supervisor in that incumbents of the latter are responsible for the supervision of a unit of revenue collection officers.
