DataNB is a research institute at the University of New Brunswick and the sole provincial administrative data repository in New Brunswick. We house privacy-protected population-level data, which we use to conduct research that supports informed policy and decision making to promote the health and social prosperity of New Brunswickers. DataNB offers consultation and research services to a variety of stakeholders such as government departments, NGOs and academic researchers in different research streams like education, health and economic policy research.
In order to conduct these research services, DataNB follows specific steps and procedures in privacy management, data access, data analysis, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Work Hours:
Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week - Salary Range: $57,669 - $74,969 per annum
- Reporting to the Director, the Administration & Finance Manager oversees all financial management of DataNB including the NB node of the Maritime SPOR Support Unit, preparing financial forecasting, planning and reporting across a wide range of complex accounts.
- Lead the administration and financial operations of a fast‑paced research centre managing 20+ concurrent projects with varying financial and reporting requirements.
- Support financial aspects of grants and contracts, including tracking, reconciliation, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain internal financial tracking systems to support reporting accuracy and funding forecasts.
- Liaise with ORS (pre‑award, post‑award, and industry‑government services), Financial Services, and People and Culture to support project and funding requirements.
- Provide financial and administrative guidance to directors, project managers, faculty, and staff.
- Provide strategic, financial and administrative leadership as a core member of the Institutes management team.
- Collaborate with the Director in the preparation and submission of the annual operating budget and proposals for funding.
- Monitor, maintain and review accounts for accuracy and coding; reconcile to budget allocations.
- Prepare journal entries as necessary to close out accounts for year‑end.
- Develop strategies to minimize financial risk and support the long‑term sustainability of DataNB.
- Liaise with the Director to review and evaluate business procedures and implement new strategies to increase the efficiency of DataNB.
- College diploma in business and/or administration.
- 5 years of experience working in an office or an administrative role.
- Strong financial acumen and attention to detail in managing grants, contracts, and compliance requirements.
- University degree would be considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills to balance shifting deadlines and competing demands.
- Effective communication skills to provide guidance, training, and strategic support to diverse stakeholders.
