Overview
Please note that this is a fully remote position with available on campus touchdown workspace. Candidates must be able to report to the New Haven campus as requested to meet with Faculty, Leadership and for team meetings/events as needed.
The Senior Finance Manager, Clinical Research will report directly to the Associate Director, Research Finance and support the Integrated Business office for the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Dermatology. They will collaborate extensively and strategically with the Senior Director, Finance & Administration, Department Leadership, Faculty and Staff, Yale School of Medicine, and Institutional offices on maximizing fiscal responsibility and be responsible for the preparation, management, and administration of Department's long-term and daily financial activities.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with University and Department policies in the areas of business and finance, while managing a team responsible for supporting and managing research, clinical research, and clinical trial portfolios and other non-sponsored (internal/gift/endowment) funding sources. They will also provide analytical and financial services, guidance and consultation to faculty and staff, optimizing each PI's use of clinical research funds for awards within assigned portfolios.
In particular, the Senior Finance Manager, Clinical Research will support the entire research portfolio for the Neurology department chair.

3. Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly.
4. Advanced proficiency in Excel and database management.
5. Experience in financial management and internal control systems in a complex environment.
Preferred
Skills and Abilities
1.Previous Clinical Trial financial management in an academic medical center, Workday and YBT experience.
2.Proven experience and/or interest in mentoring and advising staff.
3.Supervisory or Management experience of 2 or more direct reports. In-depth knowledge of Yale University policies and procedures.
4.Demonstrated ability with fund accounting and/or grant and contract administration.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Financial Services Manager:
Provides comprehensive financial services (educational, research and/or clinical) for which (s) he is accountable. Escalates issues or concerns on financial, operational services and administrative business affairs to the Director/Associate Director Finance & Administration.
2. Financial Analyst and Advisor:
With the Director/Associate Director, builds financial plans for the unit. Provides comprehensive financial information, analysis and reporting. Monitors and evaluates use of financial resources; recommends adjustments; takes action as appropriate. Oversees, monitors, and authorizes daily financial transactions per policy. Responds to financial inquiries from Dean/ Director/Chair. Identifies available financial resources (current/future); recommends efficient resource deployment to support unit objectives. Prepares all funds budgets.
Enables academic leadership focus on program activities by: managing financial support services for the unit; assessing financial and/or operational challenges and opportunities and solving for and/or leveraging these working with the Director and/or others as appropriate; facilitating and strengthening the interface between unit needs/requirements and service providers and activities.
