Muni Product Controller, Vice President

Summary:

The Municipal and Structured Finance Product Controller ensures accurate profit and loss (P&A) reporting and balance sheet validation for the Municipal Fixed Income trading desks. This position acts as the primary control partner to Front Office trading, Risk Management, and Financial Accounting.

• Work closely with front office personnel in producing daily, weekly, and monthly P&A results and analysis.
• Investigate and resolve P&A discrepancies arising from incorrect booking of trades, missing deals, system errors, or valuation issues.
• Liaison with various areas within the firm (e.g., Front Office, Operations, Technology, Middle Office, and Market Risk)
• Continue developing and improving the Internal Control environment through critical evaluation of current controls and processes and utilization of best practice.
• Complete the month end closing process for balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation.
• Ad hoc requests from the desk
• Drive process and system improvements through participation in various project initiatives.
• Assess new trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and disclosure in the financial statements.

• 5+ years of Product Control experience –Experience with Municipals securities required.
• Deep product knowledge of municipal bonds, structured municipal finance, and tax-exempt markets.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles including Available for Sale (AFS)
• High attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate ideas
• Accounting or Finance degree required. CPA a plus.

• The expected base salary ranges from $115,000 - $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
• In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
