Role Description The Vice President of Lending is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lanham, MD, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role oversees all lending operations, including consumer, mortgage, and commercial lending programs, ensuring sound underwriting practices and compliance with regulatory and internal policies. The Vice President of Lending will develop and execute lending strategies that support member needs, portfolio growth, and credit quality, while managing risk and optimizing loan products.
Daily responsibilities include leading and coaching lending teams, reviewing complex loan requests, analyzing portfolio performance, and implementing process improvements to enhance member experience and operational efficiency. The role collaborates closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align lending initiatives with organizational goals and to support long-term financial strength.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in lending disciplines, including Consumer, Mortgage, Business and Commercial Lending and Collections with a track record of managing diverse loan portfolios.
- Proficiency in Finance and Loans, including financial analysis, pricing, portfolio management, and performance monitoring.
- Demonstrated skill in Underwriting, with the ability to assess credit risk, structure complex loans, and maintain policy and regulatory compliance.
- Progressive leadership experience in a financial institution or credit union environment, preferably in senior lending or credit roles.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state lending regulations, risk management practices, and industry best practices.
- Ability to lead teams, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate effectively with executive leadership and operational departments.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills, with a member-centric approach to service.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CUCE, CUNA, CFA, CPA) are beneficial.
