Transaction Advisory Associate/Senior Associate – Mergers and Acquisitions

Xylinx LLC|Accounting & Advisory|M&A Transactions

Remote|Proximity to Kansas City or Salt Lake City a plus

About Xylinx

Xylinx is a full-service accounting and advisory firm where Big 4–trained directors work directly alongside every team member on live engagements. There are no layers between you and the decision‑makers — from day one, you will sit across from company owners, private equity sponsors, and deal counsel, doing work that matters.

Our team operates remotely across the U.S., with professionals based in Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Denver, and other markets. Our Transaction Advisory Services practice is growing, and we are building a team that combines institutional‑quality execution with the speed and flexibility that only a lean, high‑caliber firm can deliver.

About the Role

We are seeking an Associate to join our growing Transaction Advisory practice with focus of residence in the metro areas of Kansas City, MO‑KS or Salt Lake City, UT. This is currently a full‑time remote position with the potential of changing to hybrid in time. In this role, you will lead and support buy‑side and sell‑side financial due diligence engagements for private equity sponsors, strategic acquirers, and corporate clients across a range of industries.

Quality of earnings work is the core of the role and of our practice — you will own QoE analyses from initial data request through final report. This position offers the unique opportunity to work directly alongside directors who are all alumni of Big 4 firms, giving you access to world‑class mentorship in an entrepreneurial environment with a clear path for advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day execution of financial due diligence engagements, including quality of earnings (QoE) analysis, working capital assessments, and net debt reviews.
  • Analyze historical financial statements to identify trends, anomalies, and deal risks.
  • Evaluate the sustainability and accuracy of reported EBITDA through normalization and pro forma adjustments.
  • Assess working capital targets and peg analysis to support purchase price negotiations.
  • Perform proof of cash, revenue and customer concentration, and margin trend analyses to support QoE conclusions.
  • Build and maintain databooks and supporting schedules that tie to underlying source data and stand up to buyer, lender, and counter party scrutiny.
  • Identify and clearly communicate key deal considerations, risks, and value drivers to clients and internal leadership.
  • Draft and review client‑ready deliverables, including quality of earnings reports, databooks, and management presentations.
  • Coordinate directly with target company management, legal counsel, and other deal advisors during the diligence process.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial due diligence, transaction advisory, or public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement analysis, EBITDA normalization and working capital mechanics, and M&A transaction dynamics.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in Excel; experience with data visualization or analytics tools (Power BI, Alteryx) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of work streams.

What We Offer

  • Profit sharing bonus opportunity
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Clear promotion path to Manager and beyond
  • Daily collaboration with directors who bring Big 4 transaction advisory experience
  • Exposure to complex, high‑profile M&A transactions across diverse industries
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial team culture
  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) with firm match
  • Support for CPA licensure and continuing professional education
