Job Description & How to Apply Below

A large-cap options trader at Maverick focuses on the most liquid US-listed names — the S&P 100 universe and a handful of additional names with comparable option volume. The role rewards traders who want clean execution, scalable size, and the operational benefits that come with deep option markets (penny-wide spreads, weekly expirations, full strike grids).

San Diego, CA: San Diego has a smaller financial industry than LA or San Francisco but compensates with a strong biotech/pharma cluster, a thriving tech sector around Sorrento Valley, and one of the most attractive lifestyle profiles in the country. Pacific Time means a 6:30am market open and an early-afternoon close — many of our San Diego traders explicitly chose the city for that rhythm.

What you'll trade: Single-name large-cap options across directional, defined-risk neutral, and event-driven strategies. The universe is intentionally narrow — typically 30–60 names a trader covers actively — but the depth of each market lets traders run larger positions than would be feasible in mid-caps.

Risk framework: Large-cap options markets are deep but not bulletproof — earnings, macro shocks, and single-name news can still produce 5%+ overnight moves. Maverick caps per-name notional, per-name vega, and portfolio-level Greeks exposure.

Why Maverick funds this role: Large-cap options are the most institutional segment of US options markets. Maverick funds traders here because the strategies scale — what works in one name can be sized up across the entire watchlist — and the operational quality of the markets supports professional execution.

Traders who prefer depth of expertise over breadth — knowing 40 names well, not 400 superficially People who think in Greeks first, price second Candidates who have already run an options book and understand portfolio-level risk Traders who appreciate clean execution and tight spreads#J-18808-Ljbffr
