Job Description & How to Apply Below

A vertical spread traders at Maverick uses debit and credit verticals as the primary expression of trade ideas 4 directional views via debit spreads, range-bound or income views via credit spreads. The strategy is simple by design: defined risk, defined reward, no naked short legs, and a clean structure to size and manage.

Charlotte, NC: Charlotte is the second-largest banking center in the US by deposits. Bank of America is headquartered here, Wells Fargo runs its East Coast operations from the city, and Truist (formerly BB&T/Sun Trust) is built around the metro. The financial-services labor market is among the strongest in the Southeast, and Eastern Time alignment with the NYSE is clean.

What you'll trade: Vertical spreads across single-name US equity options and index options. Debit spreads for directional trades on liquid mid- and large-caps. Credit spreads (bull put, bear call) for range and income views. We do not run unlimited-risk structures from this role.

Risk framework: Vertical spreads cap loss at the width of the spread minus the premium received (credit) or paid (debit). That defined-risk feature is the role's main attraction. Maverick still caps per-position notional, total open vertical risk, and correlation across positions.

Why Maverick funds this role: Verticals are the cleanest first professional options strategy. Maverick funds traders here both as a primary role for traders specializing in spreads and as a stepping-stone for traders developing into more complex options strategies.

  • Traders who prefer the simplicity of a defined structure over complex multi-leg combinations
  • People who want options exposure without the complexity of naked premium or calendars
  • Candidates new to professional options trading — verticals are an excellent foundation role
  • Traders who can resist widening spreads to chase higher premium or trade larger size
