National Lending Intern
The National Lending Intern joins a cohort of other interns to support Forbright Bank's national lenders, including the Structured Finance, Healthcare, and Corporate Finance lending teams. Interns learn about Forbright's multi-billion-dollar loan portfolios and participate in several events including training and team building events. Each intern is assigned to a specific lending team for the summer where they gain additional subject matter expertise and exposure to a specific type of lending.
* Please note that this internship is for current juniors who will be rising seniors in Summer 2027. This position is a 9 week, 40 hours/week internship located in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The internship has an estimated start date of May 31, 2027.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform industry research to understand macro trends that impact a company and the competitive environment that it operates in
- Aid the underwriting team in the due diligence process for loans
- Assist in populating our internal system with all pertinent information on an opportunity
- Assist in the management of credit risk, ensuring that asset quality remains strong, and executing strategies to limit the risk of loss
- Help manage day-to-day borrowing activity of assigned loans
- Perform financial analysis and projections by tracking the trends and developments that may impact loan performance under various economic scenarios
- Participate in team-wide meetings
- Complete additional portfolio and underwriting analysis/projects on an ad hoc basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Duties may vary depending on which lending team the Intern is assigned to
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma Required
- Currently a junior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited institution required
- Strong financial statement analysis skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel); advanced Excel skills are ideal
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Outstanding problem-solving and time management skills
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented
- Adaptable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Can work independently and within a team; solution-oriented with a collaborative approach
$38 - $38 an hour The hourly rate will be $38/hour.
