Position: Director of Investments (Hybrid)

Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) is seeking an experienced Director of Investments to join its team in Lansing, MI
.

Reporting to the Vice President and CFO, this role oversees investment activity for MCC, the Lay Employees’ Retirement Plan (LERP), the National Catholic Investment Trust (NCIT), and the MCC Master Pension Trust. The Director of Investments will analyze performance, manage key investment relationships, support strategic decision-making, and present recommendations to executive leadership and governing committees.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Oversee and analyze investments for MCC, LERP, NCIT, and the MCC Master Pension Trust.
  • Monitor investment performance, asset allocation, benchmarks, and overall portfolio results.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reports.
  • Present investment performance and recommendations to Boards, committees, and executive leadership.
  • Manage relationships with investment managers, consultants, custodians, attorneys, and other partners.
  • Review investment fees, strategies, and opportunities and recommend improvements when appropriate.
  • Maintain relationships with NCIT participants and support investment reporting and transactions.
  • Research investment issues and prepare recommendations for leadership.
  • Work closely with the Vice President and CFO on investment strategy, financial planning, treasury management, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Support budgeting for investment-related income and expenses.
  • Present on investment topics, socially responsible investing, and current market conditions.
  • Support the growth and development of the National Catholic Investment Trust.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in institutional investment management, treasury, endowment management, pension administration, financial management, or a related field preferred. Exceptional candidates with less experience may also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of institutional investments and portfolio management.
  • Experience analyzing investment performance and benchmarking results.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership, governing boards, investment professionals, and external partners.
  • Strong organization, judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and State of Michigan laws related to institutional investments.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to the teachings, mission, and ministry of the Catholic Church.
  • Ability to professionally represent MCC with bishops, dioceses, parishes, Catholic organizations, and affiliated ministries.
WORK ARRANGEMENT

This is a hybrid position with regular in-office attendance required for meetings and collaboration with leadership, Boards, committees, diocesan leaders, and investment partners.

Occasional travel and evening meetings are required.

MCC also develops, coordinates, and manages programs providing retirement benefits, health, dental, disability, and life insurance coverage for lay employees and clergy, as well as property and casualty coverage for the Church throughout Michigan.

This role also provides broad exposure to investment strategy, financial planning, treasury management, and executive leadership, with opportunities for expanded leadership responsibilities over time.
