Role Description The Mortgage Processor/Closer is a full-time hybrid role based in Lynnfield, MA, with the flexibility to perform some responsibilities from home. This role is responsible for processing mortgage applications from initial submission through closing, including reviewing documentation, verifying income and assets, and ensuring loan files meet regulatory and internal guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include communicating with members, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party providers to obtain required documents, clear conditions, and resolve discrepancies.
The role also involves preparing and reviewing closing disclosures and related documentation, scheduling closings, and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant settlement of mortgage loans. The Mortgage Processor/Closer will maintain detailed records, adhere to compliance and quality standards, and provide a high level of service to members throughout the loan process.
Qualifications
- Experience in mortgage processing and closing, including reviewing loan files, preparing closing documents, and coordinating with underwriters and settlement agents.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations, documentation requirements, and compliance standards (e.g., TRID, RESPA, TILA).
- Proficiency with loan origination systems and general computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
- Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to explain loan requirements and processes to members and colleagues.
- Customer service orientation and commitment to providing respectful, inclusive, and responsive support to all members.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, with reliability and accountability for remote work.
- Prior experience in a credit union, community bank, or similar financial institution is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in finance, business, or a related field is beneficial.
