Role Description This is a full-time Mortgage Loan Officer role based in Somerville, NJ, structured as a hybrid position that combines on-site work at the local mortgage center with some work-from-home flexibility. The Mortgage Loan Officer will cultivate and manage relationships with borrowers, real estate professionals, and referral partners to generate and close residential mortgage loans. Daily responsibilities include evaluating borrower needs, guiding applicants through the loan process, collecting and reviewing documentation, and collaborating with underwriting and processing teams to ensure timely approvals.

The role also involves staying current on mortgage products, rates, and regulatory requirements, presenting suitable loan options, and delivering clear, responsive customer service throughout the loan lifecycle. The Mortgage Loan Officer is expected to meet production goals while maintaining compliance with company policies, lending guidelines, and applicable laws.
Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including familiarity with conventional and government loan products.
• Experience working as Loan Officers or in a closely related mortgage origination role, with a track record of meeting or exceeding production goals.
• Understanding of Underwriting principles and documentation requirements, with the ability to collaborate effectively with underwriting and processing teams.
• Excellent Customer Service skills, including clear communication, active listening, and a consultative approach to guiding borrowers through the process.
• Relevant licenses or registrations as required by state and federal regulations (e.g., NMLS registration); ability to maintain all compliance requirements.
• Strong sales, networking, and relationship-building abilities with real estate agents, builders, and other referral partners.
• Proficiency with loan origination systems and basic office software; strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time independently and collaborating with team members both on-site and remotely.
• High ethical standards and commitment to fair lending practices; prior experience in banking or financial services is preferred.
