What you will love about this position...The Vice President of Finance and Accounting is responsible for leading financial strategy, accounting operations, cash flow management, reporting, and risk oversight for the business. This executive role partners closely with operations, senior leadership, shareholders, and the Board of Directors to strengthen profitability, improve forecasting, support scalable growth, and deliver timely, accurate financial insight.
Position based in Highland Village, TX and requires in office presence, with work from home flexibility.
What you will be responsible for...To be successful in this position, one must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed in the functions below:
Strategic Financial Leadership- Lead corporate finance strategy, annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and long-range financial planning in alignment with company goals
- Serve as a corporate officer and trusted financial advisor on strategic initiatives, capital allocation, acquisitions, financing, risk management, and growth opportunities
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for executive leadership, shareholders, and the Board of Directors
- Manage accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, financial reporting, tax compliance, audits, and internal controls
- Manage construction accounting activities, including job costing, WIP reporting, percent-complete revenue recognition, change orders, retention, and subcontractor compliance
- Partner with operations and project leadership to monitor project profitability, forecast costs, assess financial risk, and support informed business decisions
- Lead enterprise risk management, insurance programs, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, GAAP adherence, and accounting policies
- Maintain strong relationships with banks, lenders, sureties, investors, shareholders, and other financial partners
- Monitor liquidity, borrowing capacity, bonding capacity, and covenant compliance
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team with clear accountability, scalable processes, and strong cross-functional collaboration
- Identify and implement systems, process improvements, and AI-enabled solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, forecasting, and decision support

What is required to be successful in this role...Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field from an accredited 4-year college or university
- CPA, MBA, or CFMA certification preferred
- Construction, engineering, specialty contracting, or other project-based industry experience strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including management of accounting teams
- Strategic, hands-on leader with sound business judgment, high integrity, and a commitment to timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, percent-complete accounting, GAAP, tax compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems, advanced Microsoft Excel, forecasting tools, and financial reporting platforms
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and executive-level reporting skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, lead through growth, improve processes, and offer practical financial guidance for operations and senior leadership
