About the PositionING Americas is seeking a qualified candidate to temporarily augment the US Tax Operations team in support of multiple ongoing initiatives. This is a 6-month contract position, with possibility for extension. The selected candidate will have extensive tax experience and expertise which includes superior knowledge of US federal & state tax requirements; tax (withholding) compliance; and IRS reporting. In addition to tax subject matter expertise, the chosen candidate should be able to take a leading role in project management by representing the US Tax Ops team in cross-functional stakeholder meetings and communicating points of attention back to the team.
The selected candidate will be asked to assist the team in performing gap assessments on planned upcoming process changes; helping to document the identified gaps; and suggesting the most efficient and responsible way to mitigate the risks associated with those identified gaps. The selected candidate should be equally comfortable leading a discussion and following the direction of team members.
US Tax Operations sits in the Chief Operations Office (COO) domain and is responsible for ensuring compliance with/adherence to all US tax withholding and reporting requirements of the organization. Typical stakeholders and business partners include Front Office, Client Service Delivery;
Legal;
Compliance; and Finance
- Expert knowledge of US federal & state tax policies, including withholding and reporting
- Experienced practitioner of annual 1099 and 1042/S reporting to IRS
- Client solicitation for required tax forms as needed
- Experienced in managing tax projects from planning through implementation; including tracking timelines, milestones, risks, dependencies, and deliverables
- Confidence to recommend process improvements: experience documenting tax processes, identifying gaps, and implementing more efficient controls/workflows
- Bachelor's (or equivalent) degree preferred; post-graduate degree encouraged
- 5+ years of experience with IRS withholding & reporting
- Microsoft Product Suite; project/stakeholder management skills
- Subject matter expertise with annual 1099 and 1042/S reporting to the IRS
- Strong written and verbal communication, including simplifying and documenting complex tax issues to stakeholder population
Hourly Rate: $85-105
