About the Role

Our client, a prominent entity in the energy markets , is looking for a sharp and analytical Energy Trading Analyst to join their remote team, based ideally within proximity to Durban , Kwa Zulu-Natal. This role is crucial for monitoring market dynamics, identifying trading opportunities, and supporting the trading desk's strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth market research, developing predictive models, and providing timely insights to optimize trading performance and profitability.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a data-driven individual to make a significant impact in the fast-paced world of energy trading, working entirely remotely with a highly collaborative and experienced group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze global and regional energy markets (electricity, gas, coal, oil, carbon).
  • Develop and maintain quantitative models to forecast market prices, supply, and demand.
  • Identify and evaluate trading opportunities, providing recommendations to the trading desk.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on market trends, risk exposure, and trading performance.
  • Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and quantitative analysts to refine trading strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant trading regulations and internal policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a trading analyst, market analyst, or in a similar quantitative role within the energy sector .
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets, derivatives, and trading strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment .
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
