ABOUT

THE ROLE
We are looking for experienced  US Mortgage Underwriters  to join our L2 underwriting team in Kochi.
The role involves evaluating residential mortgage loan applications, assessing borrower eligibility and credit risk, reviewing income and assets, validating collateral, and ensuring compliance with agency, investor, and regulatory guidelines.
You will work across  Conventional, Non-QM, DSCR and alternative-documentation mortgage products  in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Underwrite  Conventional, Non-QM, DSCR, Bank Statement and P&L-based  mortgage loans.
Analyze borrower  income, assets, credit, employment and collateral  to determine eligibility and risk.
Evaluate alternative-income documentation, including  Bank Statements, Asset Depletion, 1099, ITIN and P&L-only programs .
Apply  Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Non-QM, DSCR and investor-specific  underwriting guidelines.
Review loan documentation and issue appropriate  Approvals, Conditions, Suspensions or Denials .
Review and clear underwriting conditions and resubmitted documentation.
Collaborate closely with  Loan Officers, Processors, Brokers and internal teams  to ensure timely loan decisions.
Maintain accurate underwriting records and support  quality control, compliance and audit requirements .
Stay updated on changes in mortgage products, investor requirements and underwriting guidelines.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
2–5 years of relevant US Mortgage Underwriting experience .
Strong experience in  Conventional and/or Non-QM underwriting .
Good knowledge of  Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Non-QM and DSCR guidelines .
Strong understanding of  income analysis, credit risk, assets and mortgage compliance .
Hands-on experience with  Loan Origination Systems (LOS)  and  Automated Underwriting Systems (DU/LP) .

Experience with LOS platforms such as  Encompass, Calyx Point  or similar systems.
Strong analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple loan files while maintaining  accuracy, quality and turnaround time .
UG qualification is mandatory.
