DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This position focuses on structured training, hands‑on learning, and gaining familiarity with financial analysis tools and regulatory processes. It prepares you to support solvency monitoring, review filings, and understand how insurance companies are evaluated. As an Insurance Company Financial Analyst Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

  • Training Participation:
    Attend department and NAIC courses to learn analysis methods and regulatory practices
  • Record Review:
    Assist in examining financial statements, business plans, and required filings
  • Independent Study:
    Study manuals and guides to understand risk focused analysis and solvency standards
  • Systems Learning:
    Use regulatory software and tools to enter data and support analysis work
  • Process Observation:
    Observe experienced analysts and examiners to learn real world financial review practices
  • Information Requests:
    Draft questions and prepare basic reports to support regulatory communication
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part‑time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

  • Salary:

    Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008.00 (before taxes).

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in insurance, accounting, finance, economics, business administration, risk‑management, or a closely related field, which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 15 college credits in accounting, finance, or auditing.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
