What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking Financial Operations Specialists to join our dynamic team. We are active in identifying candidates with relevant academic and work experience in an effort to meet our staffing needs and objectives for either current or near‑term positions.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of managers and staff. Subsequently, successful applicants will be provided to managers for placement in positions across the Laboratory. These positions require reporting onsite due to the nature of the work.

Candidates are expected to team with others to support Sandia's mission by adding value, improving operations, offering innovative solutions and appropriately managing risk for the corporation.

Position Information

The Financial Operations Specialist oversees financial matters including regulatory interpretation, audits, compliance, reporting, controls, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, tax, governance, asset management, and cost accounting. Collaborating with teams, they ensure adherence to federal requirements, advise management on financial issues, develop solutions, analyze data, and improve risk controls to support the laboratory's mission and efficiency.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Post general ledger and sub ledger entries
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, payments and expense reports
  • Preparing and analyzing financial reports to support decision‑making
  • Carry out internal controls activities
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Supporting forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
  • Ensuring adherence to financial policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Salary Range

$74,700 - $144,400

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Accounting, Finance or relevant discipline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
  • Master's degree in Business Administration.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to conduct research, analyze complex data sets, and resolve business issues.
  • Knowledge of Finance and Accounting Principles such as GAAP, CAS, governmental financial accounting, and relevant laws.
