Overview
We are looking for an experienced WHS Officer who is capable, flexible and a problem solver to jump into a range of challenging and rewarding roles. You will have a reasonable amount of autonomy and the role is very diverse as you will be the single representative for the Safety Section in WA.
Reporting to the EL 1 WHS Manager some of your duties will include:
- Managing reporting, coordination and investigation of WHS incidents utilising a variety of data management systems.
- Liaising with Safety Regulators and contractors when investigating WHS incidents.
- Conducting and assisting in conducting Root Cause Analysis investigations.
- Developing and implementing internal WHS initiatives in the workplace.
- Providing advice to internal stakeholders on the correct application of WHS legislation and Defence WHS policies in the workplace.
- Engaging with Navy and external contractors on WHS issues.
- Developing agendas and attending a wide variety of WHS forums including some secretarial duties.
- Conducting internal and external WHS audits on a regular basis.
- Undertaking workplace WHS assessments e.g. noise, ergonomic, chemicals.
- Conducting risk assessments on workplace WHS issues and hazardous chemicals utilising Defence and Navy policies.
The Collins Submarine Program within the Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Group (NSSG) is responsible for the maintenance and programmed upgrade of Australia’s Collins Class submarines. The Program works in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy and Industry to deliver the strategic submarine capability to the nation.
