Hourly Rate $69.4649- $93.7777
Placement in the salary range depends upon the individual’s qualifications and experience.
The Town Of Los Gatos' Department Of Parks And Public Works Is Seeking a Temporary Capital Improvement Project Manager To Support Critical Capital Improvement Projects, Including But Not Limited To
- A New Pedestrian Over crossing at Highway 17 at Blossom Hill Road. This project is a critical component of the Town’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that has received strong community attention and interest.
- The Loma Street Drainage Study will evaluate a long-standing issue and develop drainage solutions for a neighborhood drainage basin, and
- Several other storm drainage projects.
About The Department
The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure. Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism. The Department has five service areas:
Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders.
- Engineering includes capital planning and project delivery, traffic engineering, and land use review and administration.
- Park and Streets Operations:
This dedicated team of field staff manage the Town’s 113 miles of roadways and 17 parks and open space areas. - Fleet and Facilities:
The staff in this team manages all Town-owned buildings and oversee the Town's fleet, including public works heavy equipment, and Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department vehicles. - Arborist Services:
The Town Arborist manages the Town’s 14000 trees and oversees routine maintenance of these trees and the administration of tree removal permits. - Environmental Services:
Environmental staff work with the Town’s stormwater and waste hauling joint powers authorities to ensure compliance with state and federal laws related to these technical areas. - Administrative Services:
The Administrative team supports department operations, providing budget management, contract and procurement quality control, fiscal administrative support, park reservations, preparation of reports and documents, and various other services.
The Town of Los Gatos is a general law city operating under the Council/Manager form of government. The Town Manager and Town Attorney are appointed and directly report to the Town Council. The Town’s 150 full- and part-time employees are organized into the following departments:
Parks & Public Works, Community Development, Police, Library; and Administrative Services.
Duties And Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs.
- Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards.
- Plan and design public facilities and structures, following construction and governmental standards.
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
- Prepare or present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, or property and right-of-way descriptions.
