What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking a highly motivated Classification Technical Reviewer to join our team. In this critical role, you will help identify and protect our nation’s secrets.
Responsibilities- Analyze scientific and engineering publications to identify classified and sensitive information in compliance with sponsor requirements, federal laws, and regulations, while considering publicly available research
- Evaluate scientific advancements, technologies, and information requiring protection in the interest of national security
- Develop and maintain classification guidance for both technical and non‑technical information, supporting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other government agencies
- Create and deliver classification guidance training and briefings
- Collaborate with the DOE classification community and other government agencies to resolve classification issues
- Review and approve materials for Unclassified Unlimited Release (UUR) and other designations for dissemination outside Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)
- Assess Security Incident Management Program (SIMP) incidents
- Review and approve Contract Security Classification Specification (CSCS) forms
- Serve as a Derivative Classifier (DC) up to Top Secret Restricted Data (TSRD) and as a Derivative Declassifier (DD)
- Serve as an Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) Reviewing Official (RO)
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work full‑time onsite.
Salary Range$114,000 - $227,500
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- An active DOE Q clearance, or equivalent is required to start
- A graduate degree in a relevant technical field
- Experience with classified and sensitive information programs for government agencies
- Experience with DOE classification and declassification policies, procedures, and guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Technical knowledge across various fields, with the ability to understand and categorize technical papers
- Ability to perform independent technical analysis
- Familiarity with DOE classification and declassification policies, procedures, and guidance, with experience as a DC/DD
- Teamwork skills in a technically diverse environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Sigma 15 clearance
