Our client, a Medical Center facility under the aegis of a California Public Ivy university and one of largest health delivery systems in California, seeks an accomplished Grants Specialist
.
Candidate must be authorized to work in USA without requiring sponsorship.
Contract DetailsDuration: 26 weeks contract with possibility of extension.
Notes- Mostly Remote, but candidate may be asked to come onsite once per year.
- Work Schedule:
8:00AM – 5:00PM Pacific Time.
- Involves providing analytical, financial, and training activities in support of contract and grant proposal development, grant‑writing, funding, administration, and budget development.
- Activities may include pre‑award proposal initiatives, management of funds post‑award, and closeout activities for federal, state, local and private sponsors.
- Involves activities associated with analyzing research funding trends and sources, forecasting, planning, and managing research portfolios by performing some or all of the following: coordinating and identifying and developing and/or presenting proposals, contracts and other agreements; reviewing proposals to ensure institutional compliance and program success; negotiating, administering and monitoring contract and grant awards, including compliance with regulations, terms and conditions; financial management and reporting;
and sub award/subcontract issuance and administration. - Reporting to a Team Manager and partnering with faculty and departmental staff, the RSC directs and manages the proposal process to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate submissions.
- This includes budget development; interpretation of sponsor requirements; subject matter expertise in grants and contracts and strategic advice, as well as institutional review and signature; ensuring that proposals meet sponsor, pre‑award guidelines, and regulations.
- The RSC is the institutional representative through the life of the award.
- The RSC is a professional staff member, promoting a collaborative model of stewardship among faculty and staff and is an advocate for a responsive, effective research administration process.
- Upon successful completion of certification, the RSC obtains delegated signature authority and will be reclassified to a Research Administrator 4.
- Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and/ or oversee research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies.
- Work on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations.
- Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.
- Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and/or multiple sub awards.
- Is eligible for delegated signature authority (may vary by campus).
- Typically works on complex proposals such as grants/contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub awards.
- CRA/CPRA from the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) would be great but not required.
- Detail oriented.
- Can adhere to strict timelines.
- Good at being proactive about identifying what they don’t understand and asking questions early then learning when they do gain knowledge for future submission.
- Experience as a research administrator or having submitted applications for funding to federal agencies or non‑profit agencies would be a plus.
- Experience creating a budget using Excel would be great.
