Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Government & Industry Subject Matter Experts – 1099 Consulting (Remote)

Public Sector Performance Group (PSPG) is dedicated to helping government organizations achieve operational excellence while adhering to public service values. With decades of experience across federal, state, and local government levels, the team specializes in modernizing processes, improving clarity, and fostering accountability in public institutions. PSPG focuses on addressing inefficiencies by streamlining outdated or complex systems to ensure public resources are used responsibly.

Committed to delivering exceptional performance, PSPG empowers public agencies to operate in ways that truly benefit the communities they serve.

Role Description

Public Sector Performance Group (PSPG) is seeking experienced senior government executives and industry subject matter experts who want to return to meaningful public impact, without returning to bureaucracy.

We are building a peer-level network of former senior leaders, operators, and highly specialized professionals to support federal, state, and local agencies in improving performance, efficiency, and accountability.

If you have led organizations, managed complex programs, navigated oversight environments, or delivered measurable operational results, we want to talk.

Who is this for?
  • Retired or transitioning public-sector leaders
  • Industry professionals with deep regulatory or operational expertise
  • Functional experts in finance, HR, communications, performance management, procurement, or organizational change

If you’ve carried real responsibility — budget, personnel, oversight, public scrutiny — you are our audience.

What we do:

Our focus is straightforward:

  • Operational efficiency
  • Organizational alignment
  • Financial and workforce accountability
  • Measurable results

Our mission is to support institutions that serve the American taxpayer — and to do so credibly.

Our Model

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity.

  • Fully remote, project-based engagements
  • Accept as many or as few projects as fit your availability
  • Peer-level collaboration — no micromanagement
  • Deliverable-based expectations
  • Travel may be required depending on client need
Who Thrives Here

Professionals who:

  • Value efficiency over bureaucracy
  • Prefer autonomy over supervision
  • Deliver results without constant oversight
  • Maintain credibility under scrutiny
  • Want to contribute meaningfully — without re-entering full-time government

We do not inflate titles. We do not chase volume over quality. We pursue credible work that improves public institutions.

Why Now?

Government agencies need experienced leadership more than ever. Many are navigating workforce gaps, fiscal pressures, operational backlogs, and public trust challenges.

Your experience still matters.

If you are interested in applying your expertise to improve how government serves the public (without returning to traditional employment) we invite you to connect.

To Express Interest

Send a message to , with:

  • A brief summary of your senior leadership or subject matter expertise
  • Types of agencies or challenges you are best equipped to support
  • Your availability (approximate monthly capacity)

We will follow up with qualified candidates for discussion.

Additional Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Government Relations and a deep understanding of public administration and governance processes
  • Strong skills in Communication and relationship management to effectively engage stakeholders
  • Exceptional Analytical Skills to evaluate policies, budgets, and processes for improvement opportunities
  • Experience and knowledge in Local Government operations and decision-making processes
  • Expertise in the Public Sector with a track record of driving change and achieving measurable outcomes
  • Ability to manage complex projects and work collaboratively within diverse teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is a plus
  • Prior experience with government or consulting roles is highly desirable
