Position SummaryThe Budget Analyst is responsible for developing, analyzing and managing assigned operational budgets, assessing program policy, and evaluating legislative and fiscal analysis for the Collections Division, Sites Division, and Museum Archeology Program within the Wisconsin Historical Society. These large areas utilize a variety of funding sources such as general purpose revenue, earned revenue, endowment/contributed funds, federal grants, and program revenue.
This position will monitor funding from sources to enable program flexibility and review expenditures to ensure compliance with funding source requirements. This position works in coordination with assigned program areas and supporting core budget and policy functions.
This position serves as a primary liaison between the Budget and Finance Office and internal stakeholders in the Collections Division, Sites Division, and Museum Archeology Program.
Salary InformationThe salary will be between $28.00 - $37.82 per hour plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay provisions found in the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 81, range 04. The classification is Budget and Policy Analyst-Agency. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

QualificationsPlease make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position.
Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in all of the following:
- Experience with management of the internal budget process (developing, monitoring, and/or reviewing transactions, and preparing projections and reports)
- Experience consulting with and advising business areas on budget and/or financial matters.
- Collecting and analyzing data, providing recommendations as needed.
- Developing methodologies for calculating allocations of shared costs
- Experience using automated financial systems (such as STAR/Peoplesoft) and Microsoft Excel in a budgeting role.
