Position: Probation Officer/Probation Officer Bilingual (Probation Division)

SALARY

SALARY: The salary range for this position is $54,051.21 to $91,935.37 for Schedule A, and $54,051.21 to $88,257.96 for Schedule

B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to October 31, 2015 are considered Schedule

A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after October 31, 2015, are considered Schedule

B.

REMOTE WORK

The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high‑speed home internet access.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Adult/Juvenile supervision specific duties can include but are not limited to: using evidence‑based practices to facilitate positive behavioral change and success with probation clients leading to long‑term desistance from offending behaviors, thus improving overall public safety. The candidate will use the Risk‑Need‑Responsivity model through the case management process by conducting assessments, creating plans for success, meeting with clients in the office, home and field visits, utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques, structured response grid, referrals to appropriate treatment facilities, employment and education institutions, conducting drug tests, preparing cases and appearing in court on violations of probation, collection of court‑ordered fines/restitution.

Perform additional duties as required.

Child Support Enforcement specific duties can include, but are not limited to: reviewing child support cases for proper enforcement remedies; conducting investigative fact‑finding for recommendations to the court in matters requiring judicial determination; presenting cases at court hearings for non‑compliance and on appeals of hearing officer’s recommendation and/or determinations; analyzing cases in accordance with existing laws and regulations and informing clients of their rights and available services to promote effective collection of court‑ordered payments;

analyzing hold reports to ensure that required distribution of funds is disbursed within established time frames; providing customer service to both internal and external customers by handling inquiries received in person, via NJKiDS, telephone, and correspondence; processing incoming correspondences and system alerts according to policies and standards on an ongoing basis. Perform additional duties as required.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, reasoning, problem‑solving and technical competence skills. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
