Overview
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.

Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00

Pay steps:
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.
Legal eligibility:

- Provide exceptional customer service in support of water and wastewater utility operations.
- Resolve customer concerns, maintain billing accuracy, and foster strong relationships through responsive service and clear communication.
- Explain utility services, billing rates, and payment options; collect monthly payments; establish payment arrangements; manage delinquent accounts; assist customers with online account access; and work closely with internal departments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in customer information systems—such as KUBRA, Maximo, customer information systems, and service dispatch tools.
- Coordinate field service appointments for on-site work, such as inspections, repairs, or key box locates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and three (3) years of experience in a customer service, collection, or accounting environment.
- Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
Preferences and Veteran/National Service- Military Service Interview Preference:
Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application copies of DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing veteran status. Documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge.
