Work involves supervising, managing and leading activities and operations in the Development Services division of the Planning and Development Services Department, including overseeing fiscal, budgetary and personnel functions as well as goal setting and policy making alongside the Development Services Area Director / Chief Building Official. Coordinates and directs division operations, ensuring compliance with City policies, regulations, and service standards. Serves as a resource for internal staff, external stakeholders, and the public in interpreting and applying applicable codes, ordinances and processes.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $/annually.

Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Urban Planning, Architecture, Public Administration, Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in Planning and Development Services.
  • Four years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or job-related experience which meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Obtain certification as a Certified Building Official (CBO) within 12 months of hire date.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/services assignment.
