Pay Ranges:
JPPO I – $19.96–$26.41 hourly
JPPO II – $22.50–$30.02 hourly
JPPO III – $25.40–$34.14 hourly
JPPO IV – $28.74–$38.85 hourly

SUMMARY

JPPO I – Perform entry‑level field work by providing support and being responsible for the supervision of offending juveniles. Prepare investigations reports and recommendations to the court and/or Juvenile Parole Board for parole or administrative furlough cases. Uphold the agency’s vision and mission through the Practice Model theories, beliefs, and principles in daily practice.

JPPO II – Conduct investigations and make recommendations as directed by the court and Juvenile Parole Board while supervising juveniles released on conditional parole. Uphold agency practices and principles.

JPPO III – Serve as a court officer for juveniles on conditional release or parole, investigating and reporting recommendations to the court as required. Uphold agency practices and principles.

JPPO IV – Serve as a court officer for juveniles on conditional release or parole, investigate and report recommendations to the court. Provide program leadership and supervise staff. Uphold agency practices and principles.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS

Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and vice versa.

JPPO I – MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/

Experience:

Equivalent combination of 2.5 years of education and experience after high school. Must be in criminal justice, criminology, behavioral science, counseling, cultural anthropology, education, human services, psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Other Requirements
  • Travel to district or other work locations up to 50 miles from assigned location for temporary assignments.
  • May be transferred to an assessment unit within the state.
  • Must be able to tele‑work from home or other sites.
  • Must work overtime or non‑traditional hours as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

AFTER‑HIRE REQUIREMENTS

Complete 30 hours of DHHS sponsored or approved continuing education/training within 12 months of hire.

JPPO II – MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/

Experience:

Associate’s degree and 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of 4 years of education and experience after high school. Must have at least 2 years working with adults and/or juveniles in the criminal justice or social work field.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Other Requirements
  • Same travel and tele‑work requirements as JPPO I.
  • May be transferred to an assessment unit within the state.

JPPO III – MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 1.5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after high school. Must have at least 3 years working with adults and/or juveniles in the criminal justice or social work field.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Other Requirements
  • Same travel and tele‑work requirements as JPPO I.
  • May be transferred to an assessment unit within the state.

JPPO IV – MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of 7 years of education and experience after high school. Must have at least 4 years working with adults and/or juveniles in the criminal justice or social work field.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Other Requirements
  • Same travel and tele‑work requirements as JPPO I.
  • May be transferred to an assessment unit within the state.
