Job Summary:

The Senior Advisor for Permitting & Regulatory Affairs will administer the company's environmental permitting and regulatory compliance programs in the northern jurisdictions of the US including Wyoming and South Dakota. This role will include managing projects and implementing company policies and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Senior Advisor will report to the Vice President of Permitting & Regulatory Affairs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental permitting activities across all company facilities in the northern jurisdictions of the US including Wyoming and South Dakota.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Oversee preparation, submission, and tracking of environmental permit applications, renewals, and amendments.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to gather data and documentation for permitting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and assess their impact on company operations.
  • Develop and implement internal procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with environmental permits.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies for environmental permitting matters.
  • Review and approve environmental reports and documentation prior to submission.
  • Support environmental audits and inspections, coordinate responses and corrective actions.
  • Maintain organized records of permits, correspondence, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on permitting status and compliance metrics.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of state regulations and policies in Wyoming and South Dakota as well as federal regulations and policies including but not limited to the following federal agencies: the Environmental Protection Agency, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience related to natural resource development.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
Travel Requirements

This position is expected to involve approximately 40% travel, including travel to the Edgemont, South Dakota office and nearby proposed mine sites in South Dakota and Wyoming. Additional travel may be required for meetings in Texas and for conferences in other states, as business needs dictate. When not traveling, the position will be performed remotely from a home-based work environment.
