In this role, you’ll lead and grow the organization’s Policy Guardrails initiatives while working closely with legislators, advocacy groups, business leaders, and community stakeholders throughout Utah. You’ll play a key role in building coalitions, identifying policy opportunities, and helping drive strategic advocacy efforts that support healthier civic engagement and practical governance. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership and visibility, ideal for someone who enjoys both big-picture strategy and day-to-day execution.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain relationships with legislators, policy organizations, advocacy groups, business leaders, and community stakeholders
- Convene and coordinate coalitions around shared policy priorities
- Collaborate with national partner organizations to leverage research, expertise, and resources within Utah
- Conduct policy research and develop original policy proposals and advocacy materials
- Track Utah’s legislative calendar and monitor developments across priority policy areas
- Represent the organization in meetings, hearings, and stakeholder discussions
- Help shape long-term policy and advocacy strategy alongside executive leadership
- Support initiatives focused on election reform, technology and AI policy, and civic governance issues
- Create clear, actionable policy communications and stakeholder materials
- 5+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, advocacy, nonprofit leadership, or a related field
- Prior experience working within Utah's political or policy environment
- Proven ability to build relationships and move initiatives forward across organizations and stakeholder groups
- Strong understanding of Utah’s political and policy landscape
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience translating complex policy topics into clear, compelling materials
- Ability to work independently in a lean, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
- Strong collaboration and coalition-building skills
- Graduate degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Passion for practical governance, civic renewal, and mission-driven work
