Position: Fiscal Management Specialist 1

Overview

THE POSITION The Department of Agriculture is seeking a Fiscal Management Specialist 1 who enjoys organizing information and supporting financial oversight. This role allows you to guide key processes that help programs stay compliant and effective. Your work will support clear communication, accurate reporting, and strong decision making. Bring your attention to detail to a role that supports meaningful statewide programs.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports the agency by coordinating audits, tracking federal pass-through requirements, and guiding financial compliance activities. You will strengthen reporting and oversight across multiple programs. As a Fiscal Management Specialist 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Agreement Review: Examine agency agreements to ensure required federal audit clauses are included
  • Audit Tracking: Maintain systems that track Subrecipient Single Audit submissions using reporting tools
  • Compliance Evaluation: Assess agency adherence to audit requirements and support improvements where needed
  • Report Coordination: Notify bureaus about accepted audit reports and review submissions for discrepancies
  • Policy Development: Create procedures related to audits, internal controls, and audit resolution efforts
  • Grant Monitoring: Identify federal grant opportunities and track related staff responses
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in paraprofessional fiscal administration work, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
